Energy In Motion: An Ecstatic Dance & Cacao Journey
Welcome to Energy In Motion, a transformational event where ecstatic dance, cacao, and emotional release come together to create an unforgettable experience. This is more than an event; it's a journey of self-discovery and expression, offering a blend of personal growth, community connection, and joyful celebration.
Emotion is energy in motion, and this experience is designed to support emotional processing with an undercurrent of bliss. It's about inner exploration and embodied expression, all within a vibrant, party-like atmosphere. Personal development can be fun, and we're here to prove it.
July Event: Throat Chakra (Ether)
This month at Energy in Motion, we'll be activating our throat chakra to reclaim our voices, speak our truth and express ourselves.
Linked to communication and self expression, the throat chakra is associated with truth and clarity. The throat chakra is also known as the vishudda, which in Sanskrit means 'pure' or 'purification'.
This chakra, our fifth chakra, is also linked to our sacral chakra, the second chakra, which is the centre of creativity, emotion and eros.
The element that the throat chakra is connected with is ether, also known as space, which we’ll be journeying with throughout the event.
Join us this month for an evening of vocal reclamation and creative expression!
This event is an opportunity to dance AND an invitation to transform through beauty, play, and the pleasure of being fully present in your body.
Experience Highlights
Ecstatic Dance: A space for free expression. Let go of inhibition and move to the rhythm. No dance experience needed, just an open heart.
Cacao Ceremony: Connect with this heart-opening plant medicine, traditionally known as "food of the Gods." The ceremony invites emotional clarity and deeper connection to self while fueling your desire to dance.
Chakra Exploration: Each event focuses on one of the seven chakras. From the root to the crown, we journey through these energetic centers, integrating their wisdom and embracing their power.

About your hosts: Shahna Sarpi - @shahnasarpi
It was love at first dance, when Shahna stepped onto an ecstatic dance dance-floor. She saw the immense power in embodied movement and authentic expression, coming home to hear body and her self and feeling the liberation that comes from allowing the energy to move through her. Since that time, she has interwoven these lessons and practices into what she does personally, but also professionally.
Shahna works with the body and nervous system to people out of survival mode, into a state of thriving on every level. Taking people from stressed, suppressed and exhausted… to healthy, free and radiant.
Having seen the immense power in somatic tools, emotional health and authentic expression from personal experience, Shahna now guides people home to their most empowered selves, through the body.
Co-Host: Patty McDonald - @ pattymac.truth
Patty is passionate about helping people open their hearts and find bliss in the full spectrum of the human experience. Chakaruna means "Bridge Person" in the Quechua language - this journey is here to provide a bridge for you into new ways of connecting with your self, with each other and with the world around you.
An experienced leader and coach, he recently doubled down on music as an even purer vehicle to deliver transformation, and spent a few weeks in Guatemala dancing with and learning from some of the world's best organic music producers such as Mose, Scott Nice, ATYYA and Melbourne's own Temple Step Project. He also was humbled to learn about Cacao plant magic whilst in Guatemala and is honoured to be holding a space for Cacao and Ecstatic Dance to be shared with our community.
Guest DJ: Jase Aether a.k.a DJ Elkemist - @jase_elkemist
Elkemist is a versatile multi-instrumentalist, hybrid live DJ and facilitator who plays multi-genre sets rooted in mystical sounds and ethnic flavours. With a deep love of tribal bass blended with rising slowtempo energy, his sets are curated to take audiences on a sacred journey of sonic alchemy, supported by live looping with didjeridoo, vocals, flute and percussion.
Elkemist also facilitates a weekly ecstatic dance in Nelson, BC (Canada) called Dance Wave, as well as co-hosting regular community ceremonial gatherings, and runs a bi-weekly men’s circle. Beyond building community and co-creating safe spaces for authentic expression, Elkemist has also contributed sets and ecstatic dance workshops to festivals around Canada and Australia including Shambhala (CAN), Wicked Woods (CAN), Dragon Dreaming (AUS), Chrysalis (CAN), Elevate (CAN), Tribe Ascension (AUS), The Magic Garden (AUS) and Kootenay Yoga Festival (CAN).
Whether it’s a rising tribal bass journey, sacred gathering, ecstatic dance or sunrise festival set, expect a voyage across space and time, inspired by sounds from around the world to encourage dancers to move beyond the perceived limits of their bodies and minds.
Guest Facilitator: Grace Elizabeth @beinggraceelizabeth
Helping us reclaim our voices and get acquainted with the gifts of our throat chakra, is none other than the talented founder of Centre of You, Grace Elizabeth.
Sharing song was instrumental to Grace's identity in her high school days as captain of her school choir, Stacella, an acappela choir centred around tribal, world and devotional music. During Shamanic Breathwork training in 2019, Grace found immediate resonance with the practice of shamanic/medicine drumming and chanting. Drum chants led into mantra chanting where she fell in deep alignment with kirtan (devotional call and response singing). Grace is continuing her journey towards reclaiming and regaining trust, acceptance and love for her voice through the devotional routes of kirtan and drum chanting after repressing it for two decades. Upon Grace's personal vocal reclamation journey, she has come to the realisation that the desire to befriend one's voice, spoken or sung, is a collectively shared one by many.
We’re thrilled to have Grace joining us to initiate us into new levels of vocal activation.
Things to note:
Ticket cost is $50.00 if purchasing on the day of the event.
Personal responsibility: Please make an assessment on whether you are feeling stable and resourced enough to explore the practices on offer in this event.
Centre of You has plenty of bolsters, blankets, and cushions for you to get cosy with. We recommend wearing comfortable, loose clothes to enable deep breathing and sitting/laying upon the floor with ease. A journal and an eye mask is recommended as are any familiar personal items that will aid you in feeling grounded (crystal, teddy, scarf, etc).
No Photo/Video Content Will Be Captured: We recognise that being at an event where content is being captured can impact the personal comfort and nervous system regulation of our community. As such, it should be known upfront that this event is a photo and video free space. No content will be captured. We ask all participants to honor this agreement in respect of the shared experience by placing any recording devices away on arrival.
Arrival: Endeavour to arrive between 6:15pm - 6:30pm. To preserve the experience for all involved, doors will close at 6:45pm. Truly, it breaks our heart to have to turn latecomers away yet the disruption to the whole group experience by virtue of lateness does require management. We ask that you find understanding and consideration for the timebound nature of the container and make every effort to arrive on time.
Driving: Know Centre of You is on Chapel St and ample time to find a car spot is best to be factored into your plans. Park direct on Chapel St (spots unmetered after 5pm) or in Anchor Place, the open-air parking lot in the side street that runs opposite Centre of You (unmetered after 4pm).
Public transport - tram: Both the number 6 tram & 78 tram stop on the corner of High St/Chapel St. This is stop 31 on the number 6 tram (Moreland/Glen Iris) & stop 45 on the number 78 tram (North Richmond/Balaclava).
Public transport - train: Both Prahran & Windsor stations along the Sandringham Line will get you walking distance to Centre of You.
Finding Centre of You: Centre of You is nestled within the arcade that Chapel St Bazaar is in (217 Chapel St). It is up a flight of stairs with a wide landing at the half-way-point. Unfortunately, this current version of Centre of You does not have a wheelchair-accessible lift. If you could use support in getting up the stairs or would like to discuss ways to make your experience at Centre of You more comfortable, please reach out via hello@centreofyou.com.au or via DM over on Centre of You Instagram.
