FIVE + ALIVE: A Celebration & Commemoration of COY’s First 5 Years
Centre of You is turning five and this birthday lands at
a deeply poignant moment in our story.
This birthday event's original scope was celebration.
In light of recent news announced
about COY entering into sacred pause,
this gathering has now become something richer:
a chance to gather, honour, remember,
and consciously mark the completion of COY’s current chapter at 217 Chapel Street.
This evening is for everyone who has ever stepped through these doors:
participants, facilitators, squaddies, friends, and community alike.
We'll celebrate all that we’ve created together,
all that has been held,
all that has been witnessed,
and all that has unfolded inside these walls.
It is also a tender commemoration:
a soft closing ritual for this physical home
as COY prepares to transition out of its Chapel St tenancy
and into a portal of re-imagining for its next evolution.
-------------------------------------
It's a night to CONNECT with the KINDRED.
We will laugh, play, reflect and connect with friends new and old with the support of facilitated authentic relating games. There'll too be lots of free-time to spend chilling in sweet pockets set-up around the space.
It's a night to REMEMBER. To reminisce. As a village.
We'll reminisce about the COY journey so far. We will share our dreams and visions for COY and wish COY's sweet spirit well, setting intentions for its eventual THRIVING continued becoming. This is the 'formal' part of the evening akin to speeches at a celebration / commemoration.
It’s a night to get CREATIVE. To SHARE.
Last year, an organic open mic / community jam unfurled. No guarantees though it may just happen again so bring your stories, songs, poems, instruments if you feel you may stick around after formalities.
-------------------------------------
This event is pay-what-you-feel / donation-based.
Your contribution will directly support COY’s easeful transition from the space,
helping cover the practicalities of paint, packing, removalists, storage,
and everything required to lovingly close out this five-year home.

Whether you come to celebrate,
to honour,
to grieve,
to remember,
or simply to be held in community…
You are so very welcome
Your FAQ’s answered…
I'M FEELING UNSURE - I'D LIKE TO JOIN BUT DON'T KNOW ANYONE
You won’t be the only one - promise. Many arrive at COY solo, it’s one of the things we love most about this community: how quickly strangers become familiar faces. If you’re feeling a bit shy, you can even let us know when you arrive so we can support you to feel oriented + introduced to others.
WHAT DO I WEAR?
You do you, boo - but also... COY loves a reason to dress up.
Grace is stepping out from her usual socks, slides and slothwear and invites you to do the same. Think: expressive, comfortable, celebratory. Wear what helps you feel your most authentic, best self.
NOTICE OF VIDEOGRAPHY & PHOTOGRAPHY
This night is a milestone and we’ll be freely capturing moments throughout. Photos will be uploaded afterward into a shared community folder for you to download, print, frame and post. If you prefer to stay off-camera, feel free to let us know at the door on your arrival.
I LOVE COY & WOULD LIKE TO BRING SOMEONE SPECIAL TO ME
Absolutely. Do it! We will welcome them with open arms. Shoot them the link and have them register for their own ticket so we can manage numbers. Alternatively you can register a ticket on their behalf (under their name).
CAN IN CONTRIBUTE IN NON-FINANCIAL WAYS?
Yes! Beyond financial support, you might offer a product, service or experience for the silent auction or raffle. Reach out directly via hello@centreofyou.com.au to start a dialogue about your ideas :)
ARE CHILDREN OF COY WELCOME?
COY kids - yes! The next generation of feelers, dancers and dreamers are welcome to join the celebration.
IS THIS AN ALCOHOL-FREE GATHERING?
Yes. Centre of You purposely isn’t a licensed venue. We’ll be celebrating life, down Chaps, alcohol-free getting high off our own supply (breath, beats, and belonging).
DO I NEED TO ATTEND FOR THE WHOLE TIME?
We ask that you arrive on time and stick around through to speeches, so we can kick things off, connect and reminisce as a whole community before letting the night unfold more organically. You are however free of course to leave if you wish.
